The Kiilopää area is a hiker’s paradise. This was realized by the Finnish Outdoor Association’s staff, who were charmed by the area’s magnificent nature and hiking opportunities. A road was drawn to the area from Kakslauttanen in 1964, the same year the first modest buildings were moved to the area and the Kiilopää training center was opened. Suomen Latu Kiilopää was founded. In the early 2000s, the owner’s brand was wanted to be highlighted and the name Suomen Latu Kiilopää became established.

Today, Kiilopää is an absolute gem of Lapland tourism: at Suomen Latu Kiilopää, you can enjoy an active holiday and relax in the embrace of the fells, indulging in the tranquility and pure nature of the wilderness.

In addition to hotel and cottage accommodation, Kiilopää now also offers the Nature Hotel Auhto, camping and caravan areas. The Kammiravintola restaurant serves local delicacies, and the world-famous smoke sauna by the river offers rejuvenation after a day of skiing or hiking.

And the hiking trails. Right next to the main building of Suomen Latu Kiilopää is the gateway to the unforgettable Urho Kekkonen National Park. From the courtyard, there are both easy and demanding trails, all year round, for everyone moving in different ways: skiers, hikers, mountain bikers, trail runners… The specialty of Suomen Latu Kiilopää is the daily guided tours. And if you lack your own equipment, you can find high-quality outdoor gear for both summer and winter at the equipment rental shop for a day or longer.
